The problem isn't owning a gun or brandishing it. The problem is that it was caught on video seen by millions. It's conduct detrimental to the league whether Ja is black, white, Hispanic, Asian, etc. These actions can be punished because the players union agreed to it in the CBA.

The worst part of this is that now he won't even be able to blink in public without the media making a hoopla about it and what it might mean for his future and blah, blah, blah.

Fame ain't all it is cracked up to be.

Best thing he can do is get counseling and work on his game and hit the gym a lot, then come back and drop 50 in 5 straight games and reverse the narrative.....and hire security.

Exactly - hire a professional security team.  Not some buddy that likes to party with you and just happens to always carry a handgun.

He might be looking for an unhealthy way to escape the pressure. Bird, Magic and Jordan could handle the pressures and expectations. Pistol Pete had trouble with that. Maravich's dad, like Morant's dad, trained him to be like a robot. Nothing but basketball.  Gotta improve, gotta be the best. Eventually, the pressure got to Maravich, and, he turned to drinking. Maybe Morant's expectations,  along with everyone else's, are becoming too much for him to deal with. I'm praying for him. He's more than an NBA elite player. First and foremost,  he's human.
