I want to vomit every time I think of it being legal to pay a supposed "student" athlete to play. I always have and always will be a Racer fan first and foremost. But, I used to pull for UK and U of L too. I haven't watched a UK game in 2 years. I know some, maybe several teams were paying players under the table. I never approved of that obviously.  If a player wants more than a free education he should play pro ball. I will not watch an NCAA tournament game this year because we aren't in the field. I know times have changed. But, I'm not a college basketball fan anymore. One and done, NIL, and transfer portal hogwash have taken all the enjoyment out of it for me. I'm strictly a Racer fan. And, I will always support our teams.

All I meant is that using the site above, which apparently tracks such things, there are several players listed with a NIL value.

Outside of that information, nothing should be inferred about what I posted.

I have no idea how this NIL business works.  Does it mean that is what the player is worth to themselves and the school?  Does it mean that NIL collectives have to pony up that kind of money to get the player?  I have no idea.

It was important enough for the above site to list it so I provided the information.

Anyone in the know that cares to ick-splain what this NIL stuff is to the laymen feel free to unload.

as far as I'm concerned, NIL will an(NI)hi(L)ate college basketball and the amateur athletic competitions it has stood for and is an u(N)welcome ev(IL).

What's next?

Will the Olympics start paying their Amateur Athletes to compete or be shown on camera?

Are we supposed to pony up money for the Little League players too?

Do the CBS's and ESPN's and Bally Sports' of the world have to contribute to a NIL fund or is the total they contribute NIL?

Will news stations have to start paying money to people every time they do a story on them?

Apparently March Madness will turn to March Sadness as the P-6 schools take over every aspect of sports.  I believe that's where things are headed.
