The Myrtle Beach Invitational was fun to attend, but I wonder how much it helped any of the participants.  The winner, UMASS didn't finish with a winning record, and only two teams, A&M and Boise State, made the NCAA tournament and both were bounced in round one.  Even though Texas A&M finished second in the SEC both in the  regular season and tournament, they were seeded behind lesser SEC teams in part because they lost to  teams like us.
My question is what incentive will teams like Texas A&M have in the future for entering tournaments where they might lose to a Murray State.  I am worried that the message the committee sent to A&M this year is going to make it incredibly difficult for MVC teams to improve their NET rankings.

Texas A&M lost to us (#155 Massey) and Wofford (#193 Massey).

They went 10-7 against top-60 teams.

We didn't help ourselves by getting hammered back-to-back-to-back and we certainly didn't help the Aggies or anyone else in the MVC either.

I don't know the formula that the NCAA uses for determining who gets in and who doesn't but it does not seem that they consider Q1 and Q2 losses as a negative thing which, of course, plays heavily in favor of the Power 6 conferences.

  8.3% of MVC team games were Q1 (15.625 wl%)
19.0% of MVC team games were Q2 (21.918 wl%)
29.2% of MVC team games were Q3 (42.857 wl%)
43.5% of MVC team games were Q4 (76.048 wl%)
