Hi! First post here on Racer Fans. I'm an LSU fan/alum and I want to get some insight from the board on Coach McMahon. It's been an extremely disappointing first season for him at LSU. Me personally? I think the roster is overrated, Juice can't find his footing in the SEC, Trey has his moments, KJ is our best player. Everyone will probably leave after the season(even our two highly regarded freshmen, Jaylen Reed and Tyrell Ward) and we'll have to start over. I tweeted at Adam Wells and he said McMahon needs time however expectations for this season on paper were to have a middle of the pack conference team based on the talent McMahon brought in and again it's been a disaster. Another season like this and McMahon gets a pink slip. Local media and others actually think Will Wade and LSU Basketball will not receive any penalties from the NCAA and I agree when you consider how the IARP has treated other schools in the process. Thanks everyone for your time, really like Coach Prohm. Wanted him to be considered for the LSU job a long time ago before he left for Iowa St.

Here goes, hope you're ready. I think the majority of LSU fans who post on social media have a low basketball IQ coupled with stupid unreal expectations for this season. Surely nobody needs to go over the basics of your situation here but it looks like they do. I won't waste my time with a lot of guff because it's real simple. He was given a long contract and and assurance when he took the job that this was a total rebuild job from the staff to the players to the culture. Everything. That's it, be patient.

BTW I have no idea what moron told you to expect to be "middle of the pack" in the SEC this season with this team ROFLMAO but I'll give you some advice, don't listen to anything else they tell you about college basketball hahahahaha.

So, you got a program with stink on it like a week after a skunk crawled under the house and died from a dirty coach (who very well may NOT get himself and your program sanctioned, welcome to the filthy NCAA), fire said coach right before your conference tourney, sign a sparkly, squeaky clean mid-major coach to show the "correct optics", who is then going to have to try and completely refill a roster out after all of your players bail on said dirty program, in one of the biggest P6 conferences, and expected that your team would finish in the middle of the pack of this P6 conference in Season One of your new, squeaky clean era???

I have several items I'd like to sell you and your friends and fellow fans that are disgusted by the lack of success of your program had in Season One of the squeaky clean era, and were expecting sooo much more. A bridge or two, a couple of islands, a NBA championship decoder ring, and a crystal ball.

Every fan moans and cries when their team doesn't live up to envisioned success, and I can't claim to have never done it, but you and some of your fellow Tiger fans are on something, if you were expecting anything other than some pain for this season. Dude...

Even though I disagree with these replies, I appreciate ya'll's insight.

My view on our former coach. When he first got the job as head coach at Murray State, he was not quite ready to be a head coach. He was better his second year. I think he is genuinely a good dude.

Then along come Ja Morant. Not much offensive coaching needed there. Game plan:  (a) give the ball to number 12 (b) get open (c) get ready to receive a pass or you might get hit in the head with the ball

His last year as a Racer, he did a good job with offensive sets and defensive toughness. Then he took his resume, his clean image, your horrible situation coming off major violations, and used it to make life changing money. I don't have hard feelings about that.

But then he took existing players with him, leaving the program that gave him his start in a terrible situation - something that is inexcusable to me. Honestly, I won't root for him again - even though I think he's a good guy.

Whether he can coach or not, I think the jury is out. But judging that after 1 year coming off your situation isn't exactly fair.

it's y'all and y'all's

Down here in Georgia, it's y'all; all y'all; and all y'all & you uns.

All y'all is plural of y'all
All y'all & you uns includes the kin folks.

Gutted us for what? To win two games in the SEC?

I'll make somebody a strong "blank" offer that things will get better in Baton Rouge.
It\'s not easy being the best, but around here it\'s tradition.

They will get better, because they can't get much worse. They have money and desire to win at all costs down there. But I won't root for them.

I even was happy that the team in Lexington beat them this year.

No one was going to be real successful in year 1 at LSU. Honestly won more games than I expected. Matt knows what he is doing and they will be better next season. You guys have access to money and resources for NIL.

Murraygrad2005

Matt had 2 or 3 "Fire McMahon" worthy threads by a certain poster so it's not like he hung the moon here.

Give him a few tries and he'll produce a winning season sooner or later.  We knew KJ was good and the other two mentioned were mid major good.  I had my doubts about the size and athleticism of SEC guards and thought they'd be manhandled and I've been halfway right.

The biggest gripe I had with McMahon was all of the average at best guards and shooters he and staff brought in here. Worst string of guards/shooters on average in Racer history.

Recruiting certainly wasn't his strength.
