CFSB Center Atmosphere

General question about what poster's think about the atmosphere this season in the CFSB center.  My wife and I are quite bored with the time-out entertainment.  The free throw shooting contests are getting old, as are the same repetitive contests.  Disappointed that they brought back the KissCam, especially with a triple threat of flu, RSV and COVID-19.
Probably the most fun I've had in time out entertainment has been singing "Happy Together" at the away Belmont games.  Sure wish the athletic department comes up with something to better engage fans.

This may just be from watching on tv but it seems our crowds seem quiet/nonexistant in the past few years. Like last night, seems like our crowd didn't get loud til the last few minutes when we were making a run.

I've said this for years.  It's a mixture of being so far away from the action and nothing to get the student body excited.  I miss the Racer Arena days of having an inbounder with 50+ kids breathing down your neck.  Sitting in the upper level also feels like you are a quarter mile away.  I'd rather watch from my couch and see more than to pay the GA costs and sit a mile away.

Uhhh, you do realize the Kiss Cam doesn't mean you grab just any random person around you and plant a big juicy on them if you show up on the screen, right????? :D :D :D  If you kiss 'em at home, should be safe to kiss at the Bank.

I agree with you that they could change things up for breaktime entertainment though. And as always, for the love of Guy Fierr'e, could we PLEASE get a decent concessions?!?! We were always battling for last place in the OVC with Martin on this; I can't imagine we won't be a bottom-feeder on this in the MVC also. Weeks-old Racer dogs that have grown grey hair, ugghh. Last time I tried our concessions again, last season, I just tossed it all after a couple of bites.

Well, kinda a private thing and just not into PDAs.  I think they can do better.

I'm just gigging ya, sorry.

It is old stuff. Haven't seen it done at Grizzly games in a couple of seasons, anyway.

We DID see this go wrong at a game once. Camera hit a couple who were obviously together, and when they looked up and saw themselves, they did their best to hide  :D :D .

I agree with your assessment of the halftime entertainment and the free throw contests.
There are several loose ends. Number one for me is the mop crew. There have been games where the referee has grabbed a mop to clean up sweat off the floor. The free throw contests are poorly managed. It's not clear what the prize is for the winner sometimes. If you're not going to do something well, just don't do it.
I've never been a fan of the basketball presentations. Too many people in the group and the announcements are too long. I know it's a sponsor/$$$ thing but there's got to be a better way to acknowledge game sponsors. Plus the announcer isn't s as enthusiastic as we've had in the past. Lackluster is the teen that comes to mind.
It almost seems like the in game promotions are just an afterthought. Maybe the cost of leaving the OVC and of joining the MVC have drained the coffers.  If there was a plan for game day management and promotions it seems non-existent.  Time to get back on track or come up with a new plan.

need someone to manage the heating first.  Not exactly the best home court advantage to have the heat at 90 when your team plays just 6 guys.

The time out stuff is all sponsor stuff, it ain't going anywhere.

The rest of the stuff is students even the people manning the mops.

They, the Racer Girls, the Racerettes, cheerleaders, student section, and the rest of the Pep Band will all be back soon.

My biggest gripe is the damned speaker above the student section that blasts down in sections 108-109 to near ear rupture level. This is coming from a lover of my music loud and proud lol. Have a little respect for people. It's bad enough that 99% of the music you hear in public and on television is from a single genre, as if that is the only one capable of making music but I digress.

I thought the atmosphere at the last game was great.  Whoever sang the Star Spangled banner knocked it out of the park.  Wow.  Glad to see they brought back the golf shot for a little entertainment variety.  Hats off to the student section - they are packing the area and have lots of energy.  Nice to see the AD mix it up with them.
Oh, and it didn't hurt that Ja was back. ;D

Made it up to the game last night. Good crowd, but not real loud except for students - even though the game was close the whole way.

The golf putt was close. The free throw contest was kind of sad in terms of skill levels. The half court shot was entertaining. Fun night.

Back in GA now.

Agreed, very lackadaisical crowd that needed constant prodding to get off their butts. Typical.

You're right, that guy did a great job. Besides him, one of the MSU Security has done it, the assistant AD's wife, and one other lady. All 4 were outstanding.

Hope the student section is loud and proud for Belmont, returning them the favor, as their student section is always amped up for us playing at the Curb (the rest of the Bruin fans? Not so much).

Like I said, the atmosphere is dependent on students for energy.

I'm standing the whole game, I think everyone should watch that way!
