My thoughts after 1st half.    Took a while to get going.  Going to see a lot of different lineups to see who works best together.   Game seemed to pick up a little late when Morgan and Murray came back in the game.    I really like both Perry and Anderson.   Wood and White Jr are solid but I think our freshman have a higher ceiling.   Once we get some experience we will have a good team.   Also we need to pick up the defense.

On a side note I miss Neal.  Nothing against Bidwell  but I'd much rather listen to Neal.

Too much standing around by the players without the ball on offense for me.

Moore looking for dimes but can't find anyone that wants to shoot the ball.

Brescia is very scrappy and quick and not the least bit scared of us.   Good!  That's exactly what we need.  We need to be tested and exposed in order to address the glaring weaknesses and play to our strengths.

Rob Perry looks very comfortable.

Quincy Anderson has Racer written all over him.  He's doing all the little things right that will make the difference in a close game against a great opponent.  Hopefully, his "want-to" will rub off on the rest of the guys throughout the season.

My early favorite player - Sam Murray - hasn't gotten into a groove yet.  He is an athletic freak IMO.

Moore making some surprisingly poor passes in the interior.  That won't last long.

Jacobi, Morgan, White and Smith look like they will develop into some solid players.

Can't wait to see what Prohm 2.0 adjustments are coming in the 2nd half!

Oooof...I hate to complain...but...they have a LOT of work ahead of them.  They are going to get beat down early and often at the beginning of this season.

Unfortunately, I am not yet witnessing any real offensive or defensive system installed here yet.  Everyone jacking up threes, not looking for their teammates and not making extra passes. The offense doesn't look much different than from the Racermania event.

I'm giving Steve Prohm a VERY wide berth this year because he has had to start from scratch.  I know Prohm likes to have his players "exhibit their athleticism" much more so than the controlled style of offense that CMM liked to run, so I think the biggest adjustment that is going to have be made is by US - the fans trying to be patient as this offense struggles to develop with all these new players.

They only guy that really has stood out to me so far this half is Quincy Anderson.  He looked much better than advertised. Good release on his jump shot plus likes to slash a bit.  Good body on him too and has better body control than the others so and I think he may have some real potential to break out early.  I'll know much more on him when I see him play against St. Louis.  Everyone else, I am just seeing selfish play, everyone trying to just carve their own offensive niche.  It's goona be a long year but I will remain hopeful and, as always, a Racer fan.

Murraygrad2005

We are quick but very small.  That kinda concerns me.

Much better at the free throw line than last year.

Quincy seems to me like a jacked up Cam Payne with his intensity and slashing ability.

Murray the second looks like a James Singleton type player.  Needs to add a bit of body mass.

A ton of freshman mistakes that will hopefully be cleaned up as we go.  Defense needs to tighten up but it will come the more they play together.

Felt a little more comfortable about our upside after watching the second half, plus hearing Prohm and the players speak at the press table.  I just have to keep my perspective in check and realize that no one anticipates us to be in "Banner Mode" this year. I certainly think that is a probability sometime in the future.  So glad to have CSP back!

I felt better after the second half for sure. I was lukewarm on Coach Prohm coming back but I came away impressed with the recruiting job he has done. The overall talent top to bottom is solid. Our inside size may not be great, but our guards and wings are big. And with the exception of Murray II, we have some guys that won't get pushed around. You add Burns to the mix with Smith and we're not as small as we were last night. My overall impression has me feeling a little better about our future in MVC even knowing we are going to take some L's this year.

jhughes42071

I have to keep reminding myself what Prohm was like as a coach.  His sideline presence, demeanor, coaching style...all different than what was here last year and the trial separation we had with him let me forget it.

STLRacer

Exhibition's are always strange, but I like that Brescia had intensity and played a style of basketball that is what we will see the rest of the season as opposed to previous exhibition opponents that shot the ball after 5 seconds and led to us scoring 150 points.  We have a lot of players that have the ability to shoot and score and that is great to see after all the turnover.  The freshman group looks really solid with a lot of upside.  Clearly lots of work to do, but also a bit better than I expected.  Early season will be a serious challenge for this team no doubt, but our OOC scheduled is all about the process this year.

jayinbama

It was like these guys never play together....oh wait lol

All seriousness it could have been better but could have been much worse. I told someone who asked me what are regular season record will be I said 17-13. I could be wrong either way. Just hard to replace 12 guys. However I love the direction the program is going.

RunRacers

Lots of solid players that look to be able to multiple things well.  I think that raises the possible low bar for the season.  We look like we have the potential to be pretty deep.   I think the highest upside just depends on how fast the team develops chemistry and figures out a role.

The talent level is high enough to get a big win early even if they are not yet in top form.
