Parker Stewart is the only player I can remember transferring from a school only to return a year later.

With the new transfer rules in place I'm sure it will happen more often.   In the past once you transferred once you couldn't retain eligibility transferring a second time.   Parker didn't lose a year of eligibility so the the transfer back was possible.

Interesting story. I was surprised to hear he was transferring from a school like Indiana back to UTM but it sounds like he's returning home to "finish what his dad started". I hope he accomplishes all of his goals this coming season.

Quote from: from article.....At UT-Martin, Stewart had a huge statistical year. He was the only Division I player to average at least 19.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 three-pointers per game. He was a second-team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection.

Odd that he was the ONLY player in the country to accomplish this feat yet was deemed only good enough for 2nd-team All-OVC.

In any event, what an admirable gesture to honor his Father!   :salute:

UTM was expected to challenge for a top 4 spot in the OVC that year with Stewart and Dove - instead they finished 10th, missed the OVC tourney, and only won 5 conference games in a league in which the bottom 6 teams were really bad.  I'm guessing that tainted how others viewed his season.  Hopefully returning to a hollowed out OVC will allow him to make more of an impact this year.  He's now 24 years old and in his 6th year in college - I hope he finds what he's looking for.

For one, I think it was a prime example of having good individual talent, but not having a good team. Also, the most eye opening stat listed above is the 3.5 assists. I would have guessed that number to be somewhere closer to 0.

If I'm remembering correctly, that team's defensive effort was very close to zero.
