NET ratings

So what is everyone's opinions on the 1st NET rankings?  2 OVC schools in the initial top 50 is encouraging.

It looks like a big cluster f right now.  Ohio St as the number 1?  And it's got Belmont over Nevada, Auburn, and Tennessee that are all top 10 teams?  

The way I understand it is that it gives more value to the point differential in wins and whether it was on the road or at home.

So, were' #41 as an undefeated team against the 13th hardest schedule played.

Seems off a bit.

I'll look into it some more.

The NCAA Evaluation Tool, or NET, will be the new barometer for the committee, and it will include game results, strength of schedule, game location, scoring margin (capping at 10 points per game), and net offensive and defensive efficiency.

Apparently they were trying to say there were teams "cheating" the old system and this is a more thorough way of measuring teams.  Seems kinda sketchy so far.

Yeah we discussed this back in August and Marshall hit the nail on the head then:

"NET algorithm powered by artificial intelligence, thus isn't something that's "readable""

Translation: We aren't going to tell you the formula because there is no formula. The only formula is we put in the big $ schools over everyone else. You don't like it? Too bad.

i'll reserve judgement until later in the season and see how things check out.

I like that Kentucky is at 61 after they got thrashed by Duke.  That seems fair-ish to me.
