Not really, while I don't listen to 50s music, I listen to a lot of 60s and 70s. Google War Pigs 1970 Paris and that's powerful Rock.

The list is a joke and should embarrass the sap who put it out. At least 25-30% of those songs are not even Rock and Roll...Seriously they are ballads or love songs and sung by people who were not ever considered rock stars...These songs were played on Top 40 stations but also on (heaven help me) easy listening stations...

The list dosent even include songs from rock groups like The Association or The Four Seasons ..Its not a generational thing ..Its just very poor and the author(loose interpretation) very ignorant of his subject.

It actually does have a song by The Four Seasons, My Eyes Adored You. Give me an example of someone or some song on the list that doesn't fit the Rock and Roll category.

It should also be mentioned that all but nine of the people on the list are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So, they were not only considered Rock stars; they are considered among the very best Rock stars ever. The only people not in the Hall of Fame are The Moody Blues, The Contours, Kansas, Bon Jovi, Jeff Buckley, Harry Chapin, Don MacLean, The Monkees, and Peter Paul and Mary. For most of these you can find articles online arguing that it is extremely unjust that they have not been inducted. Joan Baez is a Hall of Famer as is Gladys Knight.

Donna Summer and Run-DMC are just two of MANY in the Hall who I wouldn't have anywhere near a top-40 rock and roll songs list lmao. Better come up with better argument bro.

I'm sorry, but the Rock 'N Roll HoF and who is 'enshrined' there, based on whatever criteria they arbitrarily decide, is a joke.

Great rock n roller it does not imply. Besides, what is (stairway to heaven) and isn't (puff the magic dragon [are you kidding me?]) Rock n roll is up to wide interpretation by the beholder.

Yes and no. Rock is a genre, Rock n Roll is a sub-genre to me, like Prog(ressive) Rock, Hard Rock, Grunge, Metal, etc. Each one of thise has its own sub categories.

Hall of fame is a joke. Pretty sure they put Tupac in there this year, are you kidding me. Plus you just said Kansas wasn't in there, enough said. I'm assuming this is Will's list. Ask 40 people you will get 40 different results. Was about to say burn it but there was athe least 1 CCR song. Yet no GNR, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Pearl Jam. Yes I know I'm younger but some of those have to be on there. Can't remember was Aerosmith on the list? LOL to each his own but my list would have been much heavier with those listed and White Zombie, Iron Maiden, Manson, Dream Theater and Metallica and others on the heavier side. A hundred others I'm forgetting at the moment that should be on that list.
