So what do you guys know about the new signee?

Looks solid. Really progressed over his sophomore campaign, including a 32 point 11 rebound game. Played in a really tough JUCO region. Was named 1st team all district and 1st all region. Not the biggest guy, but has the reputation of playing bigger than his measurements. Looks like a prototypical Murray St forward.

Maybe the reason why the United States has the highest death rate among industrialized nations is that we are more worried about cheerleading competitions than people dying.

Can't really tell much about him. He may jump well, but didn't see anything beyond a dunk on film.  No high jumps or pogo sticks to get a rebound.  Not saying he can't, just limited by the film.  He appears to run the floor well, and has a degree of athleticism.  He is very creative getting the ball to the basket, but the competition didn't look very good.  Also, brought the ball down a couple of times on the rebound, and I believe some of the better OVC big men would have had a chance to block that kind of shot.  Mostly the defense stood and watched him dunk or shoot from three feet in.  May be more than what you could see on the film, due to it being a highlight run.  If the coaches have done their evaluation properly, he could be a good one.  I just hope they are not getting anxious to fill the three spots that are open, with players that are not going to help us get back to our winning ways.  I feel that we will not get anyone that would be better than Thomas could have developed into.  The Skyhawk Conference itself has the reputation as being one of the better junior college conferences in the nation, so that speaks well for him.  Anxious to see what else we come up with.

Thanks for keeping me straight Moline.  Sorry, been a long time since my ornithology class.  Dr. Eversmeyer would be disappointed.

Those were my thoughts as well, im not sure why we'd give up a returning sophomore who showed definite potential for another juco.

That said, i hope this new guy was evaluated properly and he's a hit, not a miss for the staff. He does a decent job of setting the screen and going but so did our big men this year and our guards never seemed to pass it to them.

I'd also like to see how he is on the defensive end bc that's what we need the most

I'm not sure we "gave up" a returning sophomore to get a JUCO. The way I understand it, Gilbert left, and we are now filling the vacancy.

bjhracer

I think he meant that Gilbert was asked to leave.

That was Coach Kane's going away gift to us!  Another from his Florida pipeline.

This young man has a lot of potential.  Hope he comes in early and gets acclimated.   At 6'4", or 5" could play the two or three.  We need someone who can hit the three consistently.  Will be glad to see him perform at the bank.   :goracers:

speck

Yet again he will be here for two years where IMO Gilbert showed a lot of potential and would of been here for four years, four years and I bet he would of grown some in those four year, did I say four years,

bjhracer

Today's signee will be a freshman I believe.
