Well this board has been strangely silent on a current issue near and very dear to all of our hearts.

The Eagles weren't The Eagles when they played for Linda Ronstadt as she picked them to play for her Silk Purse Tour in 1971 due to their "southern rock" style.
Don Henley was a drummer in a group called Shiloh, which Kenny Rogers first discovered in Dallas and brought to Los Angeles.
Glenn Frey worked in a duo called Longbranch Pennywhistle with J.D. Souther.
Bernie Meisner played in Rick Nelson's Stone Canyon Band.
Randy Leadon was with the Flying Burrito Brothers.

Quote from: popeyejonesfan on April 24, 2023, 05:42:50 PMI still say the easiest solution is to give players a percentage of profits on merchandise connected to that specific player. No salaries, no NIL baloney. That would be a little less like a pro league in my opinion. $70,000 for DJ? How many on this board earn that much in a year? God bless DJ. Are you hard working Racer fans ok with being out earned by a college student?Well graduates of our program typically start at more than 70K and their careers are usually longer than DJs will likely be. There is still a benefit to actually getting a college degree.
Quote from: popeyejonesfan on April 04, 2023, 02:55:03 PMWill this type of Final 4 ever happen again? Like I said in another thread, it seems to me like the new rules will make it more likely than ever for blue bloods to make the Final 4. The NCAA(NOBODY CARES about AMATEUR ATHLETICS) has professionalized amateur sports. It makes me sad to think about it.I think this kind of final four is going to be the new normal. We'll see.
Quote from: smidge34 on March 28, 2023, 12:44:58 PMWe're gonna lose some of the freshmen if I were a betting man smh. Can't really blame them honestly the way they were left to ride the pine and suffer through some of the biggest shit shows I've ever witnessed out of a Racer team. It had to be maddening. I don't see how we are going to replace all of these players with what little $ we are paying. We need a million $ yearly NIL pool or we are screwed. I mean shoot, DePaul is paying $90K for a new transfer.I was attempting to search for how much money this university raises annually. The last number I found was from last September where a record $11 million was donated (https://www.murraystate.edu/news/posts/centennial-fundraising.aspx). Now with high inflation and the hits the market has taken, the numbers for this year are unlikely to approach that.
Quote from: smidge34 on March 20, 2023, 09:30:45 PMYou are right again. I just get discouraged occasionally thinking how close we have been to breaking through to the sweet sixteen so many times, but....(insert key injury, key call, key turnover here). So many "if only's" and now to see this year's sweet sixteen populated by underdogs sorta bothers me.Quote from: ERacerHead on March 20, 2023, 06:28:57 PMMakes me wish we still had last year's coach and most of last year's team. We could have won the MVC and beaten Miami and Indiana. But it never had a chance to happen. Now who knows when, if ever, we'll make it back into the tournament again.Shoot man we've been better than the rest of the MVC several times lately and that's recruiting in the OVC lol. We finished middle of the pack with a ragtag collection of 12 new scholarship players this year. I ain't skeered a lick.
