Must have been talking about another program 'cause he is coming back and I hear he's working his ass off to be in top form for us next season.

They aren't spending that $ wisely imho, not if they're looking to win the Horizon. Just my 2 cents ;)

These NIL basketball posts should all be in the men's basketball forum.

We better be bending the rules if there are any, everybody else is. Either compete or don't, there is no in between.

BTW, we do in fact have NIL money to spend and an effort has been underway to spearhead it for awhile, announcement or not.

THAT is the point lol, we are F****D and I'll complain about it regardless of your opinion. Deal with it, you sound kinda "miserable" complaining about others complaining.

I'm just frustrated and pissed off about this era of year to year free agency. No professional league in the US has year to year free agency, they know it would wreck the game and league but now NCAA basketball is doing exactly that. I do hear we are going to have a nice little NIL package to work with but the days of all conference players returning are over unless your dad is the coach lol. It's a new era and as several have pointed out, it will affect fans choosing where to spend their hard earned $$. I especially like 02's remark of fans being disgruntled at working their asses off to pay big bucks for seats for their families while some wet behind the ears punk kid brings in more than they do to bounce a ball. That sure puts things in perspective.

I'm about done with this bullshit. Plenty of other things to spend my money and time on.

Quote from: bjhracer on April 23, 2023, 03:01:13 PMWe have a great tradition and money in our athletic department.    We really need some corporate sponsors to invest in NIL money.  It's getting to the point the naming rights etc.  are going to be better spent on NIL than just a donation to athletic department.  I'm sure athletic department can't just pay directly.    Just going to take someone with some accounting knowlege and I bet we can come up with the million a year to spend on NIL.  The trick is doing it legally and I don't know what that path is.
Don't even get me started on the naming rights to our arena F up, gave it away for peanuts.

"Grad transfer"? Don't you need to actually graduate first?

Quote from: evvracerfan on April 23, 2023, 10:53:15 AMBest of luck to DJ - he always played hard and was a key piece to McMahon changing the culture and turning things around in his last season here.  But if he's getting $70,000 to play one year for Youngstown (in the Horizon league), that tells you that we're going to need to be in the $500,000 per year range with overall NIL money to be competitive in the MVC.  I'm not sure if that's possible or not.
I'd argue a million $ and we better be ready to pony up the bucks and funnel it through businesses if necessary, specific rules of NIL be damned if the businesses can't or won't do it themselves. Everyone is doing it.

I actually want to believe our athletic department, president, and BOR ALL know basketball is our crown jewel and will make the financial commitment. If not might as well look at D2.

We will have to pony up some big bucks to buy our players or we might as well have stayed put in the OVC. It's that simple.

I agree with BOTH of you guys, you're both kinda right. Bad timing and the staff better be on their game.
