Quote from: 75Fan on May 24, 2023, 02:04:21 PMThe worst part of this is that now he won't even be able to blink in public without the media making a hoopla about it and what it might mean for his future and blah, blah, blah.

Fame ain't all it is cracked up to be.

Best thing he can do is get counseling and work on his game and hit the gym a lot, then come back and drop 50 in 5 straight games and reverse the narrative.....and hire security.

And get the hell away from that Memphis rap scene.

Quote from: Murraygrad2005 on May 23, 2023, 07:12:05 PMI don't think this would be that big of a deal if he had not just been warned and told to be on his best behavior by league officials but before the door even closed on the meeting he's back on twitter flashing guns with his "friend" again.  He needs to stay far far far away from that guy but no one but him can make that decision but Ja.

I don't believe that has anything to do with the 2nd A argument as much as it is obeying the rules of the organization you are employed with.

Agreed on all counts BUT he should still push the race narrative to the hilt. The same people who would raise hell is Congress tried to punish its own for brandishing a firearm in a Christmas card would point at Ja and call him thug for the same. I'll admit my initial reaction to a young black male brandishing a firearm isn't positive whereas when I see Congressman Massie do it I'm like "hell yeah, Molon Labe beeches!" I'm just saying his camp needs to go that angle hard.

Incidentally, I think it's obvious the dude is having a hard time going from a regular guy to mega-superstar.

Quote from: 02Racer on May 22, 2023, 05:08:27 PMApparently, NBA players are required by contract to notify the league in writing if they own a firearm.

He wasn't doing anything dangerous in either incident. Silly and immature but not dangerous.

He shouldn't have apologized after the first one. That just made it seem like it was more of an issue. What he should have done was released a statement something like:

"I am an adult with no criminal record and I own guns and sometimes carry them where lawfully allowed. It's my personal decision to exercise my constitutional rights and my God given right to self defense. As a law abiding young black man, I sincerely hope that I'm not being stereotyped as a criminal based on my race."

Amen brother, I respect the opinions of most of the posters here but young blacks listening to rap music being portrayed as thugs when they exercise their 2nd A rights when Congressman Massie and family posing with ARs on a Christmas card are seen as Patriots bothers me. You can't have it both ways and believe you me, my redneck ass had to dig deep to admit that. If our 2nd A doesn't protect a young, black adult brandishing a firearm peacefully then it's not worth the parchment it's written on regardless of the NBA's anti-2A stance.

If I were him I'd play the race card to the bitter end, "It's ok for a Congressman and his family to pose with their firearms for a Christmas card but a black man is a thug?" would be my angle. Lawyer up. They're messing with my man's 2nd Amendment rights, Molon Labe beeches.

Some of you all need to work on your reading comprehension. Nobody is saying they were the best on the team just that there is no way in hell they could have been any worse than the cluster we saw many times out there, they should have got in when the rest were mailing it in taking the night off and it's easy to see why they transferred and obviously why they had to take what they could get since they never got to play much. Some of you are too sensitive here, I'm not packing Coach's water.

Quote from: 02Racer on May 09, 2023, 08:53:19 PMI think it's pretty clear at this point. Stacker and Edwards were secretly the best players on the roster last year. Prohm just didn't play them because he loves screwing with fans on message boards more than he likes winning.
Who said that?

I'm rooting for both those guys to kick some ass.

And Jesus Christ bringing up they weren't "heavy recruits" in the portal is dumb asf. Maybe they wind up sucking but with next to zero PT no wonder they had to take what they could lmao. Valpo is in the same league as us btw, in case you didn't know.

Quote from: evvracerfan on May 08, 2023, 07:41:54 PMStevie Wonder could see that the team was phoning it in on defense in that game and several others as well.  We got boat raced in 3 straight games by an average of more than 30 points per game.  The coaching staff sent a message that was loud and clear to our bench players during those games - we think so little of you that we would rather continue to give playing time to players that weren't putting out more than a token effort on defense.  Personally I'd rather lose by 60 with players that were giving a full effort than watch players acting like they don't give a crap.  The coaching staff missed a great opportunity to send a message to the players regarding the connection between effort and playing time - and they dropped the ball IMO.  Lack of effort like we saw last year at times will kill my interest in Racer basketball faster than the transfer portal or NIL ever will.
Afreakingmen, don't want to hear any BS about them being so much worse than what we saw that 3 game stretch and at other times too. I'm with you 100% on that level of effort being tolerated too. Good post.

Quote from: Murraygrad2005 on May 07, 2023, 04:16:31 PMPlease fill us in on why they didn't play since that seems to be the million dollar question.  With all the mediocrity last year year it must be a good reason.
IDGAS what excuses are made, I guarantee he wasn't any worse than the Charlie Foxtrot we saw multiple times throughout the season. No way.

We are going to need him, we've got 2 open slots and not a lot of prospects we can afford right now. He has 1st team All-MVC potential.
