Quote from: smidge34 on May 09, 2023, 07:36:03 PMI'm rooting for both those guys to kick some ass.

And Jesus Christ bringing up they weren't "heavy recruits" in the portal is dumb asf. Maybe they wind up sucking but with next to zero PT no wonder they had to take what they could lmao. Valpo is in the same league as us btw, in case you didn't know.
You're delusional. We will find out buddy

Quote from: STLRacer on May 09, 2023, 08:20:34 AMCan we also talk about the fact that people are on here defending Stacker and Edwards who were 3 Star recruits not playing because "we don't see practice" etc. etc. etc.... AND WERE REPLACING THEM WITH PLAYERS FROM EIU!!!!!!! We stunk up the floor at times last year with our team, refused to give anyone but those duds a chance and have run off highly regarded recruits so that we can get guys who averaged less than 10 PPG in the freaking OVC.  We can blame NIL all we want, but NIL and the portal aren't the only things that are concerning for this program right now, and you have your head in the sand if you cannot see it.
So let me ask you this - if they were so highly recruited why are they both going down a level in program? Semo and Valpo.
Obviously they weren't heavy recruits in the portal.

Quote from: wallaceracer on May 08, 2023, 04:18:24 PMIf I remember correctly, I think without Stacker and Edwards we lose to sub 300 Chicago State.

And you'll never convince me that with Stacker and Edwards playing that we would have lost by more than 43 at Indiana State.
Just out of curiosity - what were Edwards and Stackers stats in that Chicago state game? I'll hang up

Quote from: bjhracer on May 07, 2023, 12:31:59 AMJust feels like we are scraping the bottom of the barrel.  I'd rather invest proven high school kids like Stacker and Edwards.  We will see how it shakes out.  I trust Prohm but another year like last year and that trust will fade quickly.
NIL Times...

Sometimes guys aren't as good as everyone thinks coming out of HS. There's a reason Stacker and Edwards didn't play and are gonna transfer down.

In today's era, you guys do realize we would have to pay Ja Cam and Isaiah probably 100k plus after their freshman year to stay. That puts everything into perspective guys.

Quote from: 02Racer on April 24, 2023, 12:23:43 PMLast time I checked, everyone is still free to complain about anything they like. There are going to be a lot of fans that feel like Smidge and I can't blame them.

College athletics are an entertainment expense for the vast majority of fans. The universities and coaches have been the ones making money. I can't blame players for getting paid if they can, but I certainly can't fault fans for not wanting to foot the bill.

How many working stiffs already paying thousands to take their families to games are going to jump on board to contribute to paying teenagers more than their own household income?
Sure you can complain but doesn't help anything in the situation lol

You just look miserable complaining about the landscape of college sports

Don't be complaining if we aren't getting the talent we are used to getting then. The game has changed. Can't be stubborn

Heard dj got paid well by Youngstown. Making north of 70k - should be a red alert to our fans how far we have to go... NIL is mandatory for us to have success. Everyone will need to chip in

We are going to have to step up as a fan base if we want to remain competitive. A lot of same level mid majors have large collectives offering recruits 40-60k and we have nothing to offer like that. NIL has changed the game - we have to be able to adapt if we want good talent and win..
