It was a disaster from the beginning. After five years of failure, we hired an assistant that ran the only offense he knew. What did we expect? I am a fan of the spread offense, but this was not it, this offense did not properly use running backs, and the coach was not willing to make adjustments. I wish coach well, and hope he makes adjustments if he decides to coach again.

Hatcher may be on thin ice. He finished a losing season with a 52-0 loss to Auburn.

Samford deserves it for hiring him and his resume imho. When they hired him I remember thinking wow we got lucky they took him.

That is an interesting name for various reason
1 FSU just gave him 17 million to go away so salary may not be his biggest requirement
2 hopefully has a ton of ties to recruit from Florida area
3 we have been out of the MSU-would football series for a while now and since he was a hero their then we may get a few new fans wanting to see him do good even if it is with the mules. Not likely but a few new fans are a few new fans
But then he may think he is better than FCS team and his history with MSU may be enough to stay away. We did injure his knee that allowed him to get his sixth year.

Taggart did really good before the FSU thing, he doesnt need big salary anymore, just like Nutt. Wonder if Arkansas thinks Nutt is to old. I wish Nutt would consider us, but he knows how difficult he lack of money is here at msu. He sure wouldn't have the scrunity here that he had at Arkansas and Ole Miss, he was praised and a hero here.

I don't think Houston Nutt is the answer. He hasn't coached in nearly 10 years and didn't win a single game in his last two years at Ole Miss.

Agreed. Let him stay a hero in Racer lore instead of trying to recreate magic decades later. Would people want to hire Ron Greene as head basketball coach if we were looking for one?

I haven’t googled it but Nutt didn’t win a game his last two years at Ole Miss? I knew it went down the last few years, didn’t know that much. He was using Ed Orgeron’s recruits the first two years. He did well at Arkansas and super here.

No to Nutt, Hatcher and hell no to Taggert. Having a few WKU fans pull for us as a reason to hire a coach is stupid even for message board talk.

Taggert will wind up with a good job. He left Western, South Florida, and Oregon in good shape. Given four years, Florida State would have been alright. Jimbo Fisher was pretty anxious to get out of Tallahassee for more reasons than money.

I wouldn’t mind them looking at Mayfields HC. They know how to win consistently and player development is the best in the state.

I have no problem with that. A Morris coach is not going to be a loser.

Wouldn't Morris have already made the jump to college by now? Not saying he has or hasn't had offers, but I'm not sure it would be a good move. He has it made where he is.

having western fans cheer for him is the last reason I would look at him , but would consider him because he left WKU, SF better than he he got there. Also with the FSU buyout his salary would not be as important and they could possible spend more for better assistants.

offering a head coach more does not mean nothing if we can't afford the assistants to go with him

as for hiring a HS with a good record, just look how that turned out at UNLV. They hired the HS coach who was regularly in the top 10 in the nation and have not done jack while he was there.

One of the biggest mistakes of MSU football history has been the hiring of Mahoney over Jack Morris. Mahoney had all those recruiting connections yall talk about, look what happened. You really think Jack Morris would have done worse because he didn't have all those college recruiting connections? A good record?? How about one of the best football dynasties in America. We aren't saying Morris should be the one, we are just throwing names around. I really doubt he would leave his winner job to take a loser job anyway.
