Brion Whitley

Post by popeyejonesfan » Sun Apr 23, 2017 9:11 pm

Seems like a good kid. Is this a good sign for us? I see he's rated a 3 star recruit by ESPN. Only a 2 star by some of the other recruiting sights. He's supposed to be a good mid range shooter. That will be nice.
Can we put 6 players on the floor at the same time to get all these guards/wings some playing time?

Seems like we're cornering the market on Brions. We've got 2 of them now.

According to the interview at his local news station he said the coaching staff told him he would be an immediate impact player. He is counting on getting playing time right off the bat. Hope this holds true. We have to play deeper this year with Hawkins Grace and the other 3 frosh we have coming in.

His size will factor in to his playing time. Without our three returning, and our two main guards lacking height against taller guards, he will probably be used at both the two and the three. Seems to have a good attitude about life.

Man I keep thinking we are a year off with these guys. In a perfect world these new guys get a full gel year with our two returning all conf studs. We will need a lot of guys to grow up fast and hope the D1 game comes to them by season's end.

BTW, I heard Miller and another player, Taylor maybe, ran the half marathon Saturday and that he has dropped about 10 pounds of fat and was working his ass off in the offseason.

I saw a pic of CMM and Dupree from the marathon. Maybe that was the other.

Every pound of weight lost is an inch in vertical.

I pointed out a few weeks ago that we would be much improved next season. And, one of the reasons I gave for my opinion was that Miller would lose 8-10 lbs. and be in better shape next season. Maybe I should predict that our 3 point shooting will be more consistent next season and see if that comes true as well.

I like his game, if all stay 4 years (I'm looking at you Ja) a back-court of Morant, Whitley and Brown could be special during their Junior/Senior seasons.

How does he pronounce his name? Like Sanchious does or like Brian/Bryan?

Either way hopefully we don't have to listen to Austin peays announcer butcher everyone's name again this year.

Kevin Sweeney college bball analyst has Brion too incoming freshmen in conference. That's an awfully big statement.

I like that ranking ( if that is what too means LOL).

If I read your post correctly I think you are saying he ranked Brion as the #2 ranked freshman in the conference right?

If so, this isn't too far fetched IMO.

Admittedly, I have not looked at all the newcomers for the rest of the conference, but I like what I see out of Brion.
