Nine out of 12 programs in the bottom half, most in the gutter and people wonder why we are pissed off as fans lol.
SEMO is what baffles me the most. Cape is a small city, but it's not that small. They play in a good facility, one of the best in the OVC. They should be producing a winner consistently. I can understand schools like SIUE and UTM and EIU not being able to recruit. Who the hell would want to play there?

I don't think we give enough credit to those who built the Racer program and it's legacy. Murray is a small town. It could be easy for a school of this size and location to be hard to get the players in to create winners. It's that legacy that will, I believe, forever create a consistent winner in Murray. From Cutchin to Alexander (who had a losing record, but still a contributor) to CMM. It's a beautiful thing folks!!! Enough of the prideful boasting. Go Racers!!! OVC=MSU

I will say this though, legacy (like a republican form of government) is a fragile thing. There is no room for complacency. We must demand more, and be willing to do more to protect it and support it. To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, Legacy is wonderful, if you can keep it.

Looking at that is like watching a train go off the tracks... Everything appears to be going smoothly with three respectable rankings at first and then all of the sudden everything goes horribly wrong.

As a comparison, the worst team in the MVC would be seventh in the OVC. The OVC is currently ranked behind such powerhouse conferences as:

Atlantic Sun
Summit
Patriot
Metro Atlantic
Horizon
WAC
Big West

To put it all in proper comparison and to reference the Back to the Future franchise, the MVC is akin to 1985 Hilldale, while the OVC is the alternate 1985 Lyon Estates.

Updated Sagarin with a full view look including the “recent” ranking in green on the far right, which Lindy alluded to in the podcast. According to the site: “The RECENT, is score-based and weights RECENT play more heavily than earlier games. Its effect will become more pronounced the longer a season goes if a given team happens to have an upward or downward trend.”

I like the “recent” trend as you get a nice perspective of who’s trending up or down and what degree. We are trending up 11 spots better while Peay is trending 25 spots better and Peay trending down significantly 50 spots. EKU’s +48 trend I’d call accurate. Interesting if you like that stuff.

We didn't cover our spread last night on our floor so I guess we will fall in rankings. Tournament this year could very well be won by upsets. Wouldn't want to bet a bunch on any particular team right now.

We covered the spread and still dropped a few spots. Must have been a weak night for our former opponents or maybe playing one of the worst teams in D1. One thing for certain after last night’s game, we have the undisputed worst ranked schedule in the country.

We are fixing to find out what level this team can play at on a regular basis, as we are going on the road, and the strength of schedule is fixing to improve quickly. Hope the Racers take it one game at a time and stay engaged for 40 minutes.

We’re respectable in the NET, 138 I think, still good for second in conference but man I get sick seeing those 6 OVC teams — HALF! — in the 300s smh. It doesn’t matter how good we might gel into a team down the stretch, ‘cause when HALF your conference is in the toilet your computer ranking are stuck in the mud in most ratings sites. EKU is a heckuva lot better than their 306 ranking I think, even after losing to SIUe but there they are.

Even if we win out through Evansville I just can't see us being more than a 16 seed with this schedule.

That doesn’t factor in upsets in one bid leagues and low level conference winners (SWAC,meac, etc).

Just looked at Lunardi predictions, has us a 16 playing 1 Kansas in the Midwest. At least he has us in.

From what I’ve seen over the years 16 seeds wind up filled by upsets in tourneys, where a 300+ NET team like EKU for instance wins the OVC, which that’s not inconceivable. Our 138 NET ranking and that’s the NCAA’s figure not mine, tells me we’re a 14, give or take if we are lucky enough to threepeat.
