We gave up 11 of 22 deep balls, wow. From one of the best 3-pt defenses in the country to this so far is a big old key. Committing 19 turnovers to 13 assists not gonna win you many.
Moving the three point line out actually makes it harder to defend against it the way McMahon likes to play it. You end up hedging out a LOT further away from the basket.

I like the zone look we have pplayed this season, and as they get better at it I bet you see it expand and spread out over the floor..

Ill also bet that if we can keep 9 guys healthy and somone like Demond Robinson develops enough to play meaningful minutes down the strech, we are going to be 3/4 pressing a bunch into that zone. Dictating the tempo and limiting good outside looks that way.

From what I have seen, DuQuan has a lot of rust and is still looking for his shot. Does better in relief of the one and two guards. A player that is talented, but needs to be given time to get settled and show his ability. Chico provides a solid option at the point, that will improve in the area of ball handling quickly. I expect he will respond to increased responsibility, and cut down on freshman mistakes. Tevin , as good as he is, does not have the ball control skills to play point, and doing so would make us weaker as a team. He is of great value in being able to set up for his shot, or cut to the basket. He is quickly establishing himself as the leader of the team. Cowart is trying to play injured, and teams are forcing him out on the floor, where he is less effective, but opening the space for Williams to go to work. The team is pressing right now, and spending too much time getting into the offense, resulting in rushing shots to beat the clock. This team will be alright, if they can get healthy by OVC time.

DaQuan may end up being more of a combo guard than a true point. He's really struggling with his shot at the moment, but I don't expect that to last. TJ Sapp was a combo guard for us but when Payne got into foul trouble, TJ was more than capable to fill in at PG, and actually carried us a couple times at the point. To me Chico's game fits the role of PG more naturally for us. That being said, DaQuan is still knocking off the rust from a year of recovery and is probably capable of a lot more than what he's shown so far. Throw Kamba into the mix and it should be a fun year watching these three freshmen develop and watching coach figure out their roles and minutes.

La Salle is better than people thought it appears. I know our defense needs work. But, even good 3 point shooters that are wide open will miss 5 of 10 on average. We just played 2 teams that were red hot from deep.

We may never have another game going 4 of 20 from deep like we did last night. We were ice cold last night from deep. La Salle was red hot. Over the course of 40 minutes, if we had made 2 more 3’s last night, and , La Salle had made 2 fewer, that would have been a different game at the end.

Lots of work to do. I just hope we figure out how to shut down the 3 before we play Belmont.
We may never have another game like that until three days later

It's not easy being the best, but around here it's tradition.
