We don't even need the point guards to be dynamic scorers right now. Just get the ball to Tevin, KJ, Javi and Nell without too many turnovers.

I‘m more concerned with how the new three point line will effect our offense. We did OK from the corner where the line isn’t much different, but struggled with open threes from the top of the key. Going to be interesting to see how we adjust.

We have three freshman point guards, if you want to be realistic about it.
Even though DaQuan has practice time under his belt, and time in the program, it is still a learning experience for him in game time conditions. He has great potential.
Chico may have the best opportunity to develop quickly, due to his high level of summer ball, and talent. He has different skills than Ja, and needs to find what does and doesn't work for him at this level. Whether he becomes merely satisfactory or great will depend upon his work ethic, something that is often overlooked when it comes to Ja's success.
Camba may eventually become the best of the trio. But he needs to have some patience. He needs to bulk up some, and work on his game. His speed and passing skills are outstanding. A year in the program as a redshirt would benefit him and the team greatly. If not, he may become frustrated, and damage an opportunity for greatness, due to lack of playing time this year. I truly believe that he has the highest ceiling, due to his natural instincts at the position.
Whichever does not start between DaQuan and Chico at point this year, may develop into an outstanding two guard. Trying to spread playing time at point between all three will be detrimental to the development of all. The players and fans need to be patient with these young men as they adjust to the college game. Cameron Payne had to adjust when he first got here, even though he was never afraid to shoot when open. Not a criticism of Cam, but just a reminder of how we struggled at the start of his freshman year. :twocents:

DaQuan was injured, and no one else could handle the ball against pressure. That is why Ja came back into the game, playing on one leg against Belmont.

I wouldn't be surprised that he plays it quite a bit this year.

I wouldn’t mind seeing some Tevin, Javi, Holliday and some combination of KJ/Rook/Nell on the floor to see how that works.

We've got the makings of an "all hair team" this year, even without Ja.

Doubt it. Tevin is more effective as a catch and shoot guy. He’s much better running off screens and setting his feet than trying to dribble to create.
