First Look

We ventured in to the Bank around 7:30, which seems to be about right if you want to see the players in action. Unfortunately, the team takes the opportunity to play no defense, only dunks and 3's are allowed. No matter though. You still get to see the new guys and see them move and shoot. I wish they would give us more than 8 running minutes, but it will have to do until Nov. 4th.

Yes, the Racers are loaded on the front line, at least by OVC standards. Our guards are a bit young/inexperienced after Brown & Eaves. I wonder if Coach will go with three bigger guys in the line-up most of the time. I noted that Cowart was not in action. I didn't notice Whitley either, could have missed him. Chico looked like trouble if you are trying to keep him in front of you. We need some of that since Ja is gone.

I haven’t heard any thing recent on Cowart and Whitley’s injuries.

Think of it this way... if they had played a hard, full scrimmage and a player went down with an injury you’d be asking why play it that way. Granted an injury still could have happened with last nights style, but it was just kids having fun and I’m sure they’ve had to go hard in practice every day since June so it was time to just let go.

IIRC, the scrimmage is the second practice of the day for the team.

I'm aware that they've already practiced once. They could hold back on some practice and let us watch them for a while, but I don't really mind. The start of the season is the start of the season. I just would like a longer look at the new players. As for injuries, injury can happen at any time, working hard or not. We wouldn't get anywhere without hard work.

We’ve got an important not so secret scrimmage tomorrow that takes precedent over last night. Bet you coach told them to have fun, relax and get ready for big final practice day on Friday.
