But the Racers play a super secret scrimmage against Indiana State in Evansville Oct. 27.

I like the idea of playing a couple games in Evansville before March. Everything really comes down to winning in Evansville March 7th so the more games there the better.

Indiana State also plays SEMO in another "secret scrimmage" held in Indianapolis.

The scrimmage could be else where then the ford center though.

Does anyone know where it will be held for sure? Asking for a friend...

There is very little reason why it wouldn't be at the Ford Center. That gives both teams an advantage- Sycamores get to play in Evansville and get more comfortable there. For the Racers, a game at the place where the tourney is played.

$$$ would be the only reason - The Ford Center also has a hockey team that plays there and if they have to convert it from a hockey surface to basketball court just for a non-public basketball game, then change it back to hockey, that would get pricey. UE doesn't hold their practices at the Ford Center, so it's normally set up for hockey unless there is a UE basketball game or concert during the winter months. The other obvious option would be the new USI arena. Of course, if we're going by OVC level arena standards, there are several area high school gyms up to SIUE or UTM standards  .

Didn’t Belmont prove last season that it doesn’t just come down to 1 game in March? The season matters.

The 27th is after Meet the Racers so likely after or around UE's initial appearance also, bball court may already be in place. Just a guess

If the win against UCLA didn’t happen they would have been sitting at home. They turned in to the media’s darling after that. So basically yes, it’s a win 2 games in Evansville season.

I’d like your post 10 times if I could. I pointed that out last season. UCLA was playing like a D 2 team when Belmont beat them last season.

If we were to beat Tennessee and then run the table and lose to Belmont by less than 5 in the championship game, then yes. If not, I don’t see the committee ever letting us in with OVC regular season loses. We have tried that in the past and it didn’t end up in our favor.

It's all academic anyway, mainly because at large bids are a product of the perceived "strength of the bubble" . It isn't just "we can't lose any games in conference", because last season Belmont did lose twice to JSU in conference, and lost to Green Bay in the OOC. Despite that, they received an at large.
