Look for Cam Payne and Isaiah to be moved to another team next season with the trade for point guards, Zach LaVine, and Kris Dunn, last year's number five pick, from the Timberwolves for Jimmy Butler.

I guess that means Cam will wind up being the back up point in Chicago, and with his performance in the playoff, Isaiah will most likely hook on with someone.

Isaiah Canaan: Will work out for Hornets

Post by msusig1855 » Tue Jul 25, 2017 9:18 am

Canaan will work out for the Hornets on Tuesday, Chris Haynes of ESPN.com reports.
Regardless of where the 25 year old ends up for the 2017-18 season, he'll likely be utilized as only added depth off the bench, having never averaged more than 26 minutes per game over his four-year caree

That's a shame.

I believe he is good for 25-30 per night if he's in a starting role where he has the green light to shoot.

The Miami Heat moved within one player of the NBA 20-player training-camp limit with Tuesday's signing of undrafted Louisiana Tech small forward Erik McCree.

The move was made with an eye toward funneling McCree to the Heat's developmental-league affiliate, the G League Sioux Falls Skyforce.

McCree, a scorer with range beyond the 3-point line, last season had a run of five consecutive double-doubles, becoming the first Louisiana Tech player to do so since current NBA All-Star Paul Millsap in 2005. Additionally, he finished last season as one of only four forwards in the country to connect on at least 200 field goals, 50 3-pointers and 125 free throws.

The Heat did not disclose terms, but for McCree to be eligible for the Skyforce he could not receive a guarantee in excess of $50,000.

The Heat open training camp Sept. 26 at Florida Atlanta University, after media day next Monday at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Of the Heat's 19-player camp roster, two players are expected to be on two-way contracts, which would not count against the 15-player roster limit teams must reach by opening night. Undrafted Michigan guard Derrick Walton Jr. already has agreed to such a contract, with undrafted Central Florida guard Matt Williams Jr. possibly to receive the other such deal.

The Heat then could funnel McCree and recently signed guard Larry Drew II to the Skyforce to reach the 15-player NBA regular-season limit.

McCree played three seasons at Louisiana Tech, appearing in 99 games. He averaged 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists in an average of 29.1 minutes over his three seasons at the school, shooting .464 percent from the field, .348 percent on 3-point range and .735 percent from the foul line.

The 23-year-old forward became the sixth player in school history to record at least 1,400 points and 700 rebounds in three seasons. During his senior season, he led the team in points (585), rebounds (295), field goals (202), free throws (127) and minutes (1,047) and was named first-team All-Conference USA.

In 2016-17, McCree recorded 13 double-doubles, the second-most in the conference and the fifth-most by a Bulldog during a single-season over the past 25 years.

Before transferring to Louisiana Tech, McCree appeared in 24 games as a freshman at Murray State.

McCree worked out for several teams in advance of the draft, including the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics. He then played three games in the Las Vegas summer league for Houston.
