Re: It's finally here

One official team event, one Sportscenter appearance for Ja. There are several copies of the leap over 4 on twitter but some of the stills are beyond amazing: https://twitter.com/TheAdamBWells/status/1053112005169688576?s=20 https://twitter.com/RacerDave23/status/1053133211415560192?s=20 https://twi...

1983 basketball documentary

I was watching some random basketball documentaries on youtube last night and ran across this one. It was made in 1983 and I thought it was pretty amazing looking at the landscape then compared to now. Austin Peay coach Ron Bargatze makes a brief appearance at around 41 minutes. It talks about recru...

Re: Looks like we are getting a new president

Smidge read my mind there (as usual haha!) I worked 2 jobs my first year (at $3.35/hr) to make ends meet and by the time I was a Sr I was working at Pocket's on the weekend, Briggs 3 nights a week, and the chemistry department between classes. None of them were full time of course but I was either i...

Re: Looks like we are getting a new president

in 1990 tuition, room, meal ticket, and fees was $3,330 for a full year. I know because I worked 2 jobs to pay $333 a month on the 10 month installment plan.

Re: espn-ovc

I'd bet the conversation went some thing like this: ESPN: We want to get the OVC on ESPN+ ! OVC: Thanks, we have a digital network already set up though. No thanks. ESPN: OK, good luck getting your conference basketball tournament final broadcast elsewhere. OVC: Well, we aren't exactly married to OV...

Re: Fate of Marshall County's Zion Harmon likely to be decided by an arbiter

I've been told by MANY people that there are AAU kids in the 4th grade and up getting paid to fly all over the country to play basketball in hopes of someday getting a piece of their pro earnings. Ethics in sports is a thing of the past. I am not saying this applies to Harmon, I'd truly be shocked i...

"NET algorithm powered by artificial intelligence, thus isn’t something that’s “readable”"

Translation: We aren't going to tell you the formula because there is no formula. The only formula is we put in the big $ schools over everyone else. You don't like it? Too bad.

Re: Schedule news

I agree with others I'd like to replace the SWACs with MAC, MVC, CUSA type teams but all in all I'd take this schedule every year.

Re: Fate of Marshall County's Zion Harmon likely to be decided by an arbiter

I had the same knee jerk opinion as most others I've heard: The kid was just transferring for a chance at a championship or to improve his recruiting stock. Then I immediately had the same reaction as RacerPreacher: Marshall County is not the last place one would improve his visibility but it's cert...

Talked to him several times at the bar in Nashville after the semis (Big River Grill?) He was a walking hoops encyclopedia. His call style was an acquired taste but there's no doubt he will be missed. MERCY!

I won't argue that Ja is top 5 in the nation but to be fair the list was top 10 mid major PG's. Now to show the rest of the country, hopefully over the next 3 years 8)

Re: College basketball costs and revenues

Mark Adams had an amazing (and long) facebook post about revenue/expenditures and NCAA at large bids. (TLDR: spend $2.5 mil or more on basketball or forget about an at large or much tourney success.) NCAA Men’s Basketball: How is the status quo working for you? By Mark Adams, President, ENTHUSIADAMS...

IMO they will put the games on ESPN+ and try to drive up $ubscription numbers, not ratings for on air (cable) broadcasts.

Re: Justin Fuente

I think Justin is well on his way to being the most successful football coach to ever spend time in Murray as a player or coach, and yes I know that is quite a statement considering Gottfried, Nutt, and Beamer are on that list. He is probably still 3rd or 4th on that list but will not be staying the...
