Re: Thug U. In BG. Made the news again.

Actually, WKU left the OVC in 1982, moving to the Sun Belt Conference for basketball, and football 1-AA independent through 1999. The OVC let them back in for football only 1999-2000, then informed the Toppers they would have to play all sports in the conference going forward. Western declined, and ...

Re: Alan Ward

The Abilene Christian Athletics site lists Drew Long as interim AD right now. Looks like ACU stepped up to Div 1 basketball about 4 years ago. Their basketball team went 8-10 in the Southland Conference &16-16 overall. The football team was 2-7, 2-9 last year. Looks like lots of work to do.

Re: Stansbury has found a rather ingenious NCAA loophole...

Rant and rave about this hire at WKU all we want, but as stated by several in previous posts here, it is not an NCAA rule violation. This practice of hiring a parent/guardian/coach by university basketball teams is nothing new. Some on this board will remember that Danny Manning's dad Ed was an assi...

I know I’m not an all-star contributor on here, but I like our coach and I like the idea of this extension through the next 3.5 years. I think he has proven to be fertile soil to invest in, as he continues to improve and work hard at being the best he can be.
I agree.

Jeff Bidwell's "The Lens Of Leadership"

If you haven't listened to Jeff's first edition of his new podcast "The Lens Of Leadership". you need to set aside an hour to do so. His first guest is Matt McMahon, and this program will give you some great insight into Coach McMahon's philosophy as a leader first, and a coach second. Great stuff f...

Re: New CUSA scheduling format

My comments regarding the ESPN input on mid-major schedule changes was just an observation of a business strategy by ESPN, not a conspiracy. Nothing ESPN does is without considering television ratings, because that equates to more advertising $$$. They are a business, a very successful and powerful ...

Re: New CUSA scheduling format

Let’s think about this a little. An ESPN employee helped develop the format? What could possibly go wrong here? How could ESPN possibly benefit from this scenario? Let’s se...maybe enhanced tv ratings when the mid-major league leaders play each other late in the regular season? Which would you rathe...

Re: Jaiveon Eaves

I'm sure most of you already have thought of this, but a 20 point lead isn't as big of a cushion as it used to be. A 3-4 possession scoring drought by your favorite team combined with a three point shooter who suddenly finds his range on the other side can make it a game again in just a couple of mi...

Re: Eku troubles

Lets take these one at a time... 1. What do you get for your money? The Boston Federal Reserves says that governmental entities get $7.46 return on every dollar spent. That is a 7x return on investment that offsets tax increases elsewhere. Not sure the amount you would put on having a message board...

NCAA Final

Just a quick observation after the first half of the NCAA championship game. Coach Calipari should be thankful his team didn’t have to play either of these two teams. They would have been done at the 10:00 mark. If not sooner.

I certainly would have thought that Popeye fit the bill one of the years he was here.

I think Carlos was given the nod over Pop for one of the years.

Re: Question from the Coaches Show

Good catch there dbstepside. I came across the Wikipedia info too, but it was not listing the mvp for 2011. I didn’t think to look at the roster like you did. So, yes, just Carlos Rogers, Marcus Brown, and now Jonathan Stark.
